One Defining Moment

If i could use one word to describe my BMT, it would be an epiphany. A defining moment for me was the field camp. The first day of our field camp 28th August 2012, we had a 8KM route march with our FBO to the site of where we build our basha tent. I was quite looking forward to it as i thought that it would be fun! But before we even set off from our coy line, it started to pour heavily. The moment when we reached our destination, i felt extremely excited as i know that it is gonna be tough and it is going to be an opportunity for me to change for the better. We started to build our basha tent and many lectures about field camp after that. The second day of field camp, we started off with physical training
with our rifle stripped on our back and we ran around the track for 4 - 5 times. It was very cold for me last night because i am used to sleep with blanket every time without fail. We hugged our rifle tightly too. The day was packed with activity such as training for our GBC. Half way through the training, i finally realize that my bunk and home is still the best. I ate the combat ration and it was quite nice. It was Lor Mai Kai! It taste exactly like normal food at the canteen. I'm quite looking forward for the shell script next day as i know that it is going to be the second last day of our field camp. The Third day of field camp, digging shell script was the most tiring and tedious thing i have ever done in my life. It was the biggest challenge in my life, nothing can be compared to that. My spot was fine as the soil was quite soft and easy to dig. When i was digging, i felt like doing business suddenly and i did it with my section mate name Lin Feng. It was extremely hilarious as i told him not to turn around and look at each other, but in fact i keep looking at him. Just when i finished digging my shell script, i suddenly felt extremely fatigue and i went out to report sick. My fever keep going up and down till midnight before i was sent back to coy line. The very moment when i reached coy line, i felt like it was in heaven! The forth day of field camp, i was already in my bunk sleeping, nothing much to talk about other than sleeping. Through this field camp i realize and learned that land is still better than mud. Another valuable thing that i have learned is to appreciate what i have. After all, i had enjoyed myself and change a lot through this field camp. Picture above is a few of my BMT Best Companion !
